Anyone going to Connecticon this year? Because I sincerely hope I am. I just checked out their website, and in the Dealer’s Room, apparently there are WEAPONS EXHIBITIONS. Or something along those lines. I want to at least see them, if I can’t buy any. This’ll be different from Anime Boston, because it’s not focused solely on anime, manga, and japanese video games, but I hope it’ll be fun!

More money, though. More money that I don’t currently have to spend on cons. Oh well. We’ll see how life works out. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Oh, and my brother might be going, too. Which would be fun for me, if not so much for him.

Coconut Macaroons and Cosplay Plans

To start off this entry, let me just say that coconut macaroons are heaven on earth. I’d never tried one before three days ago, but now I’m horribly addicted and can’t stop eating them. The coconut flavor just melts in my mouth, and I really want them to disappear before I gain a million pounds from eating all of them. At the same time, I don’t want anyone to have them because they’re MINE. Dilemma.

Anyway, on to what this entry is really about. That’s right- cosplay plans! Before I get started, I think I should warn you that I have a ridiculous amount of these, and that more likely than not, they will not all end up being finished. Still, it’s better to try and fail than to not try at all, right?

My main focus in my cosplaying is Death Note, a wonderful manga and anime about a bored death god, a bored college-student genius who decides to play god, and the quirky insomniac detective who happens to be the world’s best. It’s an awesome series, and if you haven’t already seen/read it, you really should. Back to cosplay. My cosplay attraction is L, the world’s best detective, though I am not interested in portraying him as he is, in white shirt, jeans, and no shoes. (I already did that once.) No, I like to dress L up. It’s kind of a… fetish, maybe, of mine. So here is a list of what I intend to design for him (AKA me dressed as him) to wear.

As a disclaimer, though I will be using reference for all these outfits, the end result will not be a carbon copy of any of them. I will be designing an entirely new, though recognizable, outfit that corresponds with L (and potentially, in the future, Light, Mello, Matt, and Near). Now on to the list!

Yeah, I told you I had a lot. The one I’m currently working on is the Schoolgirl version, which I hope to complete by Connecticon this summer. I have a wig to be styled, a skirt and shirt to modify, L earrings, and a handcuff bracelet. I still need to buy legwarmers, blue flipflops, and white and blue fabric, and to do all the modifying, including adding blue to the skirt, and adding a collar and tie to the shirt. The wig will end up being the hardest, though, because it will be my first time doing any styling. Yikes.

How am I going to accomplish this on the budget of a college student? I have no idea. But I’m going to try. Wish me luck, because believe me, I’m going to need it.

Oh, and if these ever do get finished, they’ll likely be worn at Anime Boston and Connecticon in the upcoming years. Just in case you wanted to know.

The First Post of What Should Be Many to Come

Hello all! My name is Mihael Jeevas, or at least that’s the name you’ll know me as. I am an anime geek, an artist, a writer, and a cosplayer. As such, those things, and the random other obsessions that come across my path now and again, will be what this blog focuses on. Right now, my main focus is cosplay related. Expect ideas, babbling, potential progress shots, and maybe even a picture of me in the end result.

BJDO- Ball-Jointed Doll Obsession

I have recently discovered this fantastic craze over a certain type of Asian doll. Not any old Barbie doll, but a fully posable, beautifully crafted sculpture with a gorgeous face and easily customisable body. Unfortunately, they and their clothing are very, very expensive.

Nevertheless, I have found this gorgeous young man on SOOM (a maker of BJDs), named Spinel. http://www.dollsoom.com/shop/step1.php?number=2830 He is so expensive, but sooo beautiful and exotic that I can’t help but want him. As a newly graduated high school student, going to college in the fall, I don’t have that kind of money to spend, but I can dream, right?

He reminds me of a pirate, or a musketeer. If I ever do get him, I’ll definitely name him Aramis, after my favorite of the Three Musketeers. Isn’t he absolutely lovely? His handsome, expressive face; his lover’s eyes; that small mustache shadow on his upper lip… I don’t think you can begin to comprehend the intense want I have for him (not in a perverted way!).

I’ve made myself a deal. When I get a certain amount of money in my bank account, I will buy myself this BJD. However, he might be gone by then, and then I would be a very sad Mihael! So I’m sincerely hoping I can rack up the money from my job to do this. Wish me luck?
